The Necessity of Accurate Sensor Calibration in MEMS-based Systems

The primary objective of this research is to enhance the calibration process by utilizing a supervised regression-based algorithm to reduce the calibration time with minimal system changes. The research focuses on accelerating the sequential calibration process of a micro-machined angular rate gyroscope by determining the optimal operating point for the individual sensor using a supervised machine learning-based algorithm. The model’s predictions are then used to set the final working point for each sensor, reducing the number of required calibration steps. Through this approach, the research has achieved a time reduction of 23.8% for the calibration of eight measurement blocks of the front-end calibration of the inertial sensor.
